(holding flower bulbs)
Do you know what these are? These are flower bulbs. Does anyone know what a bulb is? Yes, it's like a seed...we plant it in the ground and then something grows from it. These are to grow flowers. But they're a little different from a seed. Most of the time, when we plant a seed, we need warm weather, or a warm room, and sunlight, and water for it to grow. And normally it starts to grow pretty quickly.
But a bulb is a little different. Who knows when we might plant a bulb? We plant them in the fall and then they stay dormant...they take a long nap....through the cold weather in winter and then
What is faith?
It's the assurance of things hoped for and conviction of things not yet seen. Well, what does that mean? The author of Hebrews decided it was easier to show us than to tell us. Hebrews highlights people who had faith and the chasm of unknown that lay between them and God's calling or promise, which was only overcome by faith.

In my first year of seminary, I went to Cuba for a 10-day evangelism trip. It was an experience that changed my faith and my life. I have a lot of stories I could tell about that trip, but the one that matters for today is I was there with 2 other women from my school. And like a lot of first-year students we were waiting to be fed our faith life. We were expectant that someone—a professor, a worship leader, the school would set out a banquet of faith so we
I don't know about you, but this week has felt awfully heavy. It seems there has been one set of bad news after another. Monday started off unreal as I read about the events in Vegas. Then I started to hear about people we know personally who were there...people who ran, people who were protected, people who were shot. A high school friend, a former parishioner, my hairdresser from Valencia.
