Pastor Derek's E-Spire - October 1, 2022

Greetings friends at Moscow 1st UMC! First, thank you for your support and care this last month as I’ve journeyed with my family through my Father’s last days of life. He is resting in the love of our savior for which I’m grateful. Joy and grief are my companions as I remember and honor him. Thank you once again.

Second, I’m looking forward to the Meet and Greet Gatherings that are starting this month. These gatherings are an opportunity for me to meet with you and small group of people in an informal setting. I find that these Meet and Greets are a wonderful way get to know each other. If you would like to host or attend a gathering please contact Audra in the church office- This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Sunday School begins October 2nd! Chrystal Tibbals is leading a group of volunteers for our Children’s Sunday School. A big thank you to all of them! For Adult Sunday School I’ll be a facilitating a discussion of the book Humbler Faith, Bigger God by Samuel Wells. A book that has blessed and challenged me this past month. My hope is that it will bless and challenge all of us as we engage with its words. Hope to see you there at 9:00am in the Parlor!

Finally, on Sunday October 9th I’ll be starting a sermon series titled Walking the Methodist Way. We are on a journey of faith and discipleship together. The Methodist walk of faith is distinctive and challenging. In this series we will explore our baptismal vows and the story of faith that is their basis. Let’s walk together with our Lord, empowered by the Spirit!

Peace and Grace,
Pastor Derek
